2D Technical Drawing & Shop Drawing Service — Manufacturing-Ready with Full GD&T Dimensions
·2D Technical Drawing·
.dwg, .dxf, .pdf, .slddrw
Fully detailed 2D technical and shop drawings produced in SolidWorks — the industry-standard format accepted by manufacturers, toolmakers, and injection molding suppliers worldwide. Every drawing includes complete orthographic views, precise dimensions, tolerances, surface finish callouts, material specifications, and title block with part information. Ideal for sending to a factory or supplier for mass production quotations, creating molds and tooling, CNC machining instructions, and quality control inspection. Delivered as PDF for immediate sharing and DWG for editing. Whether you have an existing 3D model or start from a sketch, every drawing is checked for manufacturing clarity before delivery. Show More
This project demonstrates the full output of our technical drawing service online — a complete 2D shop drawing package produced in SolidWorks Drawing mode from an existing 3D model, annotated to ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards, and delivered as a PDF and DWG ready for immediate submission to a manufacturing vendor.
Client Requirement
The client had a SolidWorks part model for a custom bracket assembly and needed a manufacturing-ready drawing package to send to a CNC machining vendor for a production quotation. The vendor required full orthographic views, GD&T tolerances on all mating features, surface finish callouts on machined faces, and a properly formatted title block with part number and revision. Our solidworks design services team extracted the drawing directly from the model — all dimensions model-driven, no manual estimation.
What the Drawing Package Contains
The delivered drawing set included: front, top, right-side, and isometric views; a full section view revealing internal bore geometry; GD&T feature control frames on all datum-critical features using ASME Y14.5-2018; surface finish symbols on all machined faces; material specification (6061-T6 aluminium); and a title block with part number, revision A, scale 1:2, and drawing date. Every annotation was reviewed for mechanical design services accuracy before export.
Formats Delivered
PDF was delivered at A2 page size for direct print and RFQ submission. DWG was delivered in AutoCAD 2018 format for compatibility with the client’s CAM software. The native SLDDRW SolidWorks drawing file was included for future revision management. All three formats are standard deliverables under our custom cad design service for technical drawing orders at no additional charge.
GD&T Annotation Approach
Datum references were assigned to functional features — the primary datum to the largest flat face, secondary to the bolt-pattern bore, tertiary to the part edge establishing angular orientation. Position tolerances on the bolt pattern were specified at MMC condition to allow maximum manufacturing flexibility while guaranteeing assembly fit. For cad design for 3d printing prototype rounds preceding the final machined part, additive tolerances were noted separately in the drawing notes block.
The Practical Value of a Technical Drawing Service Online
The most common reason a CNC vendor rejects or returns a part for re-quoting is insufficient drawing clarity — missing tolerances, undefined datums, or surface finish specifications that do not match the machining process. Our technical drawing service online eliminates these rejection points by producing drawings reviewed against the vendor’s stated requirements before delivery. For this project, we contacted the client’s machining vendor directly to confirm the drawing format, tolerance standard, and title block fields required for their internal system — then produced the drawing to those exact specifications. The client’s RFQ was accepted on first submission with no revision request. That outcome is the point of a drawing service that understands manufacturing, not just drafting. When combined with our mechanical design services, the drawing package reflects actual manufacturing intent at every annotation.
Order Your Drawing Package
If you need a manufacturing-ready 2D drawing from an existing SolidWorks or STEP file, our 2D technical drawing service delivers within 24 hours. Drawings start at $34 for single-part orthographic sets. Full pricing at Pricing. Start at Order.
Revision Management and Drawing Re-Issue
Engineering drawings are living documents. When a design changes, the drawing must be updated and re-issued with a new revision letter. Our technical drawing service online includes revision management as standard: updated drawings are re-issued with a proper revision block and change description — not delivered as a new file with no traceability to the prior version. This project was revised once when the vendor requested a tighter bolt pattern tolerance, turned around within 24 hours as Revision B. Combined with our mechanical design services, this is a complete drawing solution.
